In response to increasing drone attacks, including a recent Hezbollah strike that killed four soldiers, Israel’s Defense Ministry announced it is accelerating the development of new technologies to combat the threat posed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
While Israel’s air defense systems have proven highly effective during the past year, particularly against rockets and missiles, drones have posed a unique challenge, contributing to several deadly incidents. The ministry acknowledged the growing threat and revealed that multiple cutting-edge technologies are currently being tested as part of an “expedited process” to enhance drone defense.
The goal is to fast-track the selection and further development of the most promising technologies, with plans to deploy them within the coming months. This rapid development marks a critical move as Israel seeks to bolster its defenses against a new wave of threats from Hezbollah and other adversaries across the region.
