JERICHO, January 11, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists on Sunday forced 33 Palestinian families to leave the Bedouin community of Shallal Al-Auja north of Jericho, bringing the total number of families forcibly displaced from the community to 79.
Al-Baydar Human Rights Organization said that ongoing harassment and attacks by the colonists led to the families’ displacement. The families forced to leave today included 20 from the Rashaydeh tribe and 13 from the Ghawanmeh tribe.
The organization noted that the latest displacement follows the forced departure of 20 farming families from the area last Saturday and 26 others last Thursday, due to repeated attacks over recent weeks.
Al-Baydar pointed out that harassment by colonists included grazing livestock on farmlands, damaging fruit trees and crops, and continuously provoking residents. These actions reflect a systematic policy aimed at pressuring Bedouin communities and asserting control over their lands.
The organization emphasized that the incidents represent a deliberate targeting of Bedouin communities in the Jordan Valley, aiming to create uninhabitable conditions and impose a coercive colonial reality, resulting in economic and social crises that threaten residents’ safety.
The organization called on the international community, human rights organizations, and media to act urgently to protect Bedouin communities and prevent the worsening of displacement and attacks on Palestinian lands and property.
