IDF, Israel Police disperse clashes in West Bank

The IDF and Israel Police dispersed multiple clashes near Hebron in the West Bank after receiving reports that several Palestinians assaulted an Israeli civilian and stole part of his flock and personal equipment, the IDF confirmed on Wednesday.

An Israeli civilian and three Palestinians were wounded and evacuated for medical treatment, the military said.

According to the IDF, additional confrontations erupted when Israeli civilians arrived at nearby points in the area.

During crowd dispersal, a female IDF officer was assaulted by a Palestinian woman and sustained facial injuries.

PA news agency WAFA reported that 12 citizens were arrested in the clashes, and searched several houses in the city.

IDF troops and Hebron District police worked to separate the groups and restore order. Two Palestinian women suspected of involvement were detained at the scene and transferred to Israel Police for investigation, the IDF said.

The IDF later confirmed that while operating in the area, soldiers shot and killed a terrorist who threw a Molotov cocktail at them.

The IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Israel Border Police, and Israel police forces completed an operation in the Jabal Johar area in Hebron last week as part of an ongoing effort to enforce law and order and maintain security in the area.

Over the course of the operation, security forces searched approximately 350 structures, apprehended 14 individuals wanted for terrorism related activity and possession of weapons, and confiscated eight firearms, dozens of knives, and additional weapons.
