SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – Good Monday morning, mid-Michigan! Today is a First Alert Weather Day, with several types of warnings across our communities. We’re hearing and seeing the high winds and monitoring snow squalls for your morning commute that could reduce visibility and make travel difficult. For your First Alert Weather, click here.
Here are five things you need to know for Monday.
1. Thousands of homes and businesses are without power this morning across the state. As of 5 a.m., Consumers Energy had reported more than 700 outages and nearly 43,000 customers affected. The biggest cluster is in Clare County, where 15,000 customers have no electricity. Other areas in our viewing area facing outages include Isabella and Gladwin counties. 2. Robert Tweedly is set to appear this morning in Bay County Circuit Court. He was arrested last September in the death of Justie Stilwell. Investigators say parts of Stilwell’s remains were found near a boat launch on North Johnson Street. Prosecutors said forensic testing and other legal issues contributed to the timeline of the case. Tweedly is charged with open murder and mutilation of a dead body.
3. A business in Essexville remains closed after a fire over the weekend. Fire crews responded to Jack’s Fruit and Meat Market on Center Road on Sunday morning. The grocery store announced on social media this location is closed until further notice. There is still no word on what may have caused the fire. Stay with TV5 for updates.
4. President Donald Trump is meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today at Mar-a-Lago. The two are expected to talk about implementing phase two of the peace agreement the United States helped broker between Israel and Hamas. The two leaders also are expected to address Iran and whether another strike is needed to disable Tehran’s ballistic missile program.
