The Lebanese military asked displaced people to avoid the towns and villages which have been engaged in the frontline near the UN-drawn “blue line”, reported The Guardian.
“The army has begun to strengthen its deployment in the South Litani sector and extend state authority in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil). In this context, the concerned military units are moving from several areas to the South Litani sector, where they will be stationed at the locations designated for them,” the Lebanese army said in a statement.
The deal anchored by the US has been silent on Israel’s war with Gaza where the former’s military attacked a school-turned-shelter on Tuesday killing 11 people, including four children, according to hospital officials.
US President Joe Biden has said that his administration is working upon an agreement wherein a hostage return and ceasefire deal could come into effect between Israel and Gaza which have been engaged in war since October 2023.
